A wonderful day of celebrating celebrating & all modes of non-motorised transport with full a road closure for a party on the streets!
The City of Gold Coast held the 2014 Bike & Street Fest in Varsity Parade on Sunday 4 May, which was met with much support and participation by the community, local businesses, kiddies and people being active
The day was a huge success with approximately 4000 people attending the event on all forms of wheeled transport.
I loved it and had a ball! It was a fun-filled, awesome day of street parades, kids activities, live music, competitions, stalls, prizes, BMX demos, riding, skating, scooting & being active!
The success of the event was made possible by everyone involved, including the local retailers for their support behind the street ‘opening’, and all of the vendors, exhibitors and entertainers who created a fun, street-party atmosphere whilst promoting active travel.
Bike & Street Fest is a part of the City’s Active Travel and Active Towns programs which encourage residents and visitors to walk, cycle, carpool or use public transport more often.
If you attended and have any feedback regarding the event please email activetravel@goldcoast.qld.gov.au or for more information please visit www.cityofgoldcoast.com.au/activetravel
I’m look forward to enjoying it all again next year’s event 🙂
